Crypto was a project designed to help inform people about the history and uses of cryptocurrency and to help expand the user base. This project contained three deliverables. The first one being a book that would go through the history of different cryptocurrencies. The second would be a magazine editorial containing an interview with the creator of Ripple (a very popular cryptocurrency) about his product, and the third would be an ATM interface for the withdrawal and deposit of money via cryptocurrency.
The History of Cryptocurrency was the most critical part of the three deliverables. It goes into detail about how Cryptocurrency, specifically Bitcoin, works. It also shows a history of how Bitcoin came to be and some of the controversies it has faced over the years. The information is broken down so that even non-tech-savvy people can understand it and follow it.
The second deliverable was an editorial in a magazine such as Wired, Gadget or NXTER. It contains an interview with Chris Larson who created the cryptocurrency Ripple. In this interview, he goes over the advantages and disadvantages that cryptocurrency, specifically Ripple, would have on the world markets. He also highlights the differences between his coins and other coins on the market.
The last part of the project was an ATM interface. It is designed for use with the six most popular cryptocurrencies on the market. You can deposit and withdraw money from your personal wallet by scanning the QR identification code to access your funds.
Settlers of Catan was a project where we were given the task to redesign a popular board game and transfer it to a tablet interface for interactive play. To transfer the game to digital, all the game pieces and cards were scanned in to preserve the feeling of the actual game board and the cards used in the game. A big draw of this board game is the overall aesthetic that sets it apart from a lot of other games. The game board randomly changes every game and can be expanded upon, giving you players limitless replay-ability. This feature was another one of the reasons we chose to digitize this specific game.
Another big part of modern games is the ability to connect and play with friends online. We integrated this feature into the game with servers and host rooms for people to join and play against each other.
The Synthwave book was a project where we chose a sub-genre of music that was less than twenty years old and created a booklet about that sub-genre. The booklet had to explain the sub-genre and its big-name artists while conveying the overall feeling and aesthetic of the sub-genre.
The goal of this project was to create a series of posters for SCAD using three words which SCAD selected. The three words were create, pitch, sell. These words where chosen to represent the ability for SCAD students to sell their works with the help of SCAD and also promote the college itself. Along with the poster set, we created postcards for a smaller set of promotional materials.
This project’s goal was to create a calendar using the 24x24 folder format similar to European-style calendars. The calendar presents typefaces used from the first printing press to modern times. Each typeface is associated with a piece of technology from the same era.
Neue Condo was a project that centered around making an advertisement campaign for condos that would include a magazine, folder, business card, logo, and interactive zine. The project included five deliverables. Their purpose was to promote a fictional apartment complex that we created. Neue was the name chosen for the apartment complex. The deliverables are an interactive brochure, a print brochure to match it, business cards, floor plans, and a folder to contain all the information handed to interested parties looking for a modern and fun place to live.
The first part of the project was creating the brochure. It contains the main body of the promotional interior and shows off the unique qualities of the apartments.
The third deliverables are the floor plans that show off the possible configurations for the each of the apartment suites.
The fourth final deliverable were is a business cards that could can be handed out individually or stored in the business- card holder found inside the folder.
The Bukowski book set was a project where we were assigned to design and create a set of three books and a book jacket. The three books written by Charles Bukowski are: Women, Ham on Rye, and Post Office. These three works are considered to be the best examples of his writing.
The Mapplethorpe Exhibition was a project to create promotional material and handouts for a local museum hosting Mapplethorpe's original work. The primary focus would be on his most controversial body of work: Portfolio X. This project contained three deliverables for a Mapplethorpe Exhibition that would be hosted at the CAM Raleigh Museum of Art. The first deliverable was a lookbook showing some of the photos from his Portfolio X. The book would give some background on Mapplethorpe's life and some of the controversies that followed him throughout his art career. The second deliverable was a bus poster promoting the event featuring a headshot of Robert Mapplethorpe with the promotional information listed as well. The third and last deliverable was an e-vite that could be sent out to museum members or the CAM mailing list via email.
The first deliverable was the lookbook for the exhibition with a bit about Mapplethorpe's life and some fun facts about his art. It uses a very simple layout and design as to not take attention from the photos themselves which are the centerpiece.
The second deliverable was a bus poster to promote the exhibition that would take place at CAM Raleigh Museum of Art. The poster uses a photo of Mapplethorpe to bring attention to his striking work with one of his most famous self-portraits.
The last deliverable was an evite to be sent out to everyone on the CAM digital mailing list. The evite serves as another piece of promotional material for the museum members. This evite contains all the information that people would need about the event.
